Roots Up Productions
Roots Up was started at the University of Bristol by a group of graduates. We all met during a social at a local pub and created ‘Grieved’ together, which was made as part of a ten-week short film challenge. For some of us, this was the first venture into fiction filmmaking, and for others it was a learning experience.
Working on ‘Grieved’ was a fantastic time. Although it was undoubtedly a difficult film to pull off, it felt like the perfect coming together of the hobbies and skills we all had been nurturing since childhood. Which is why, seeing it first premiered at a venue in Bristol, and seeing it be accepted into film festivals has been such a rewarding experience.
We decided to create another short together, and soon after, as we realised what an incredible team we had gathered, we could see no reason to stop working together.
When I was about 10 years old, my father decided that it was his duty to educate me in film and showed me Gladiator. Since that moment I knew I wanted to work in film. The last year has felt like a full circle. I am knees deep into exploring my childhood passion, and I am ready to take on the world of film using all the skills I’ve picked up along the way.
I still remember the first book I ever read with my father. It was Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince. I learned from that book was that grown-ups
lose their sight for magic as they get older.... and I promised I would never do that. I am moving on to
leave my mark in new places, tell my stories to new people, and direct films with new challenges.
My passion for the arts started with music.
Working with the team from Roots Up Productions was one of my first acting roles and it reignited my passion for films. Now, with a few films under our belt, I will continue exploring writing, acting, and music production.
As an editor, I take great pleasure in assembling the whole crew’s hard work and creative vision into a project we can all be proud of. My love for filmmaking stems from a desire to express myself and tell stories. Therefore, I prioritise accurately and effectively delivering the creative vision of the crew when editing to retain the same passion that drives my creative ventures.
